Several months ago, I tried out the Green Grab Bag from White Apricot (greengrabbag.com), a $15/month service that delivers a fun package filled with eco-friendly, organic beauty and body products to your doorstep. The presentation was nice, and I enjoyed several of the items the package held (a few of which were full size), but, overall, it didn’t seem like a good use of my funds. But my Green Grab Bag trial run did result in one lasting habit: my addiction to the Chocolate Mint Lip Balm from Organic Indulgence (myorganicindulgence.com). My vast supply of other organic, natural lip balms were shoved to the sidelines by this show stealer. Beyond being 99 percent organic and free of all the junk I like to avoid (parabens, sulfates, synthetics, petroleum derivatives, artificial ingredients, etc.), the sweet-smelling stick worked wonders on my lips with its expert blend of beneficial oils (coconut, sunflower seed), shea butter, vitamin E, and more. Unfortunately, unable to part with it, I took it on a hike yesterday and, to my disappointment, emerged from the woods without it. And while it is available in some California stores, no stores in my area have it. Now I’m seriously considering ordering a few tubes online despite the hefty shipping fee … we’ll see how long I can last without it.
