Editor's note: Even though August has just begun, fall fashion is right around the corner. Check in to The Penny Rose frequently as we put the spotlight on all that fall has to offer. Today, we kick it off with a look at two of our favorites from Rachel Zoe's new collection.
She had us at "ba-na-nas.” Rachel Zoe, the effervescent stylist to the stars, has been a reigning queen of fashion for some time now. She’s bedecked starlets in gorgeous frocks, wowed at the Oscars with a plethora of gowns showcased on Anne Hathaway, and creates daily “looks” for her clients that constantly land her styling skills on “must have” pages in every major magazine. Zoe shifted her empire several years ago when she became a reality television show maven. And from there, she leveraged that success into something even more bananas—her own clothing line. Now, Zoe has carved out a firm niche in the fashion industry as a bona fide designer. Her fall 2012 collection features bright pantsuits, tailored, upscale, feminine silhouettes, fuzzy faux fur white jackets, roped necklaces, a to-your-knees black and white patterned, full bodied sweater, and one of my favorites: a dusty rose-colored, poufy blouse, layered under a grey faux fur jacket, paired with Americana-looking jeans. But my two stand-out choices are the leather vest and jacket seen above. They have a military-inspired, riding jacket look. Gorgeous and versatile, as well as the perfect camel color for fall. The entire collection is a mash-up of toned down ’60s glamour with a smidge of ’50s retro, and a splash of today’s contemporary colors and fitted styles. Summing it up can only best be said with a Zoe idiom: “I die.”
