If, like me, your skin is sensitive, it can be hard to find the right cleanser. Most are foaming, which can leave skin tight, dry and itchy. I've found the best cleansers for me are creamy and don't lather at all. I've tried multiple brands from Jurlique to Neutrogena in my search, but I always feel like the grass is greener once I read an article or hear the latest buzz on a product. Since argan oil is all over the place right now and my last cleanser ran out, I decided to give it a try and who better to try it out with than the queen of argan oil, Josie Maran. I was excited when my box arrived (inside was the Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil) and I could experience what might be the holy grail and the answer to all my clean skin hopes and dreams. Well, I like it, but don't love it. I love that it's basically free of everything bad: phthalates, parabens, sulfates, etc. and that the argan oil is organic. But I was operating under a wrong assumption that because it's an oil-based cleanser it would leave my skin soft, supple and cleansed, but without the need for further moisturization. My skin is left clean and soft, and while not quite tight and itchy, it does need additional post-cleansing moisture. While I know that's not unusual, in the end, while I do like this product, once it's finished I will probably move on to a new brand and continue my quest for the "perfect" cleanser.
