Fall Fashion—Synergy

On day three of Santa Cruz Fashion Week, we feature Synergy, an eco-friendly store that sells its owners' designs in two locations in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Looks: Cropped yoga pants (below) are great for active individuals. These pants can also work as leggings for the dresses that you don't want to put away for the winter just yet. The bomber vest (above and below) gives warmth, but also freedom in the arms to keep up with a sporty lifestyle or rambunctious children.

The dress (below) is the Fleece Dream Catcher Tunic in the color Mushroom. It's a fantastic item for later in the Fall when the weather starts getting cooler. The Mushroom color is an easy neutral to work into your wardrobe or wear it as a stand-alone piece.

The Store: Synergy Clothing, which has two stores in Santa Cruz and is sold around the world, is a pioneer in eco-friendly fashion. With the brand’s rapid expansion, Synergy owners Kate Fisher and Henry Schwab have proven that fashion can be both chic and green. Synergy’s contemporary designs combine influences from East and West, sustainability, unique detail and of course, comfort. The pieces are flattering to the female body, affordable and made with love. The Pacific Avenue store in downtown Santa Cruz is considered their flagship store, which carries newer items as well as other eco-friendly brands. The Soquel Avenue store is considered their outlet store featuring clothes from the current season as well as past seasons. A quick interview with Gina Peters (Chief Operating Officer) and Laurel Pochucha (Retail Operations Manager) is below.

If a shopper at your store should invest in one fall piece, what should it be?

As far as an investment piece I would opt for the new shortened version of our bestselling trench coat. It's a chic, versatile jacket made out of our super cozy eco fleece. It's available in black, deep sea (rich blue/purple) charcoal, and wine.

What key styles were you looking for when you thought of Fall 2012?

This Fall, our collection will feature more rich, jewel-toned colors than previously. The emphasis of the fabrics are on lush organic fleece and on-the-go bamboo jersey. The style of this collection features a lot of ruched, wrapped and draped details for a quintessential feminine look.

Is your store influenced by trends?

Our store is more influenced by a natural, healthy, stylish eco-lifestyle. Kate Fisher (co-owner) designs clothes that will hold up for an active woman who wants to look put together and feminine, without being overly trendy to the point where an item seems passé from season to season.

In three words, describe the style of the clothing in your store.

Conscious, comfortable and versatile.
