Post-holiday Detox

It’s almost that time of the year again when you hear everyone around you start talking about what changes they’re going to make in the new year. While several of my friends are planning to go on various dietary cleanses, I plan on dedicating New Year’s day to doing an at home detox regimen on my skin (in my pajamas, of course). Here are three masques that are great for most skin types that you can do at home.

1.) Epicuren’s Chai Soy Mud Mask is a treatment that smells as delicious as it sounds. The mask pulls toxins out of the skin while replenishing vital nutrients and minerals.

2.) Ren’s F10 Smooth and Renew Mask is formulated to gently exfoliate and detoxify. This gel mask will promote skin renewal and leaves you with a tighter and brighter complexion.

3.) Aveda’s Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque is my all-time favorite go-to product when I’m in need of a pick me up. This light and creamy treatment, made of finely powdered tourmaline—one of nature’s most energizing minerals—boosts skin’s energy, while natural exfoliants help skin gently shed dull, lackluster surface cells.

A quick tip on how to get the most of your at home treatment: Take the time to fully cleanse your face prior to applying your mask. (This means washing your face for more than 20 seconds.) If you want to get really fancy with it, take a clean face towel, run it under your sink (preferably with warm/hot filtered water), wring out excess water, and cover face until your towel isn’t hot anymore. This will open the pores and allow the treatment to further penetrate the skin.
