The Penny Rose Receives a Grant

Good news! The Penny Rose has been awarded an arts grant from the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County. Monies received will enable this blog continue to thrive in our hometown of Santa Cruz (and beyond).

The Penny Rose serves as Santa Cruz County's only professional media outlet offering fashion and beauty coverage, with a team of six local writers. We not only feature outfit ideas, beauty reviews and eco-beauty coverage, but we make a strong effort to represent the local beauty and fashion industries, stores, and creative artists in Santa Cruz.

We also have a remarkable production crew that together have created several high-fashion photo shoots for The Penny Rose. We've worked with folks like local photographer Nick Chao (his photos are above) as well as model Desiree Amariei (above), and fashion stylist/hair stylist Missy Schnaps who created the looks above. We've also teamed up with hair stylist Ginger Vaughn of Salon on the Square who created the retro hair above to the right, and makeup artist Anna Wu of Faust Scotts Valley, as well as Laamie Young of Blank Verse Jewelry who created the "ice necklace" in the image above.

And there are so many other talented local artists in the fashion and beauty industries that we've had a chance to work with.

Because of the generosity of the Cultural Council, The Penny Rose will be able to continue serving our local community and beyond. Stay tuned for an exciting year on the blog. We have many fun projects planned.
