In The Hat

March is almost here and with the weather we have been having, it feels like springtime is finally upon us. Although, in gorgeous, sunny California, spring comes early and summer lasts all the way into fall. All sunny weather is quite wonderful, but I need to find a trusty hat to shield my face from all those wrinkle-inducing and skin cancer-causing rays. A true classic that I have decided on is the Panama Hat. It became a classic when President Theodore Roosevelt visited the Panama Canal and has been a style staple ever since. It’s a classic neutral with a wide brim, perfect for shielding your face from the harsh spring and summertime rays. It adds a welcome tomboy style and panache to an otherwise plain outfit. I especially love it paired with something unexpected, like a pencil skirt, or flirty dress, but also love the ease it gives to jeans, shorts, or a beach cover up. I purchased mine from Greenpacha, a hat company that combines great design with a humanitarian mission. They employ hat makers in Ecuador and are committed to paying a fair wage, investing in the people and communities and using sustainable materials. I love their products and love that they are committed to producing a stylish product with social and environmental awareness. So while adding this chic and classic addition to my wardrobe, I’ll also be protecting my skin and helping a good cause. Bring on the sun.
