As the years pass, I find that my skin is becoming ever more sensitive. Perhaps it's a side effect of getting older, or maybe my skin is reacting to an environment that is becoming more chemical laden by the year. Either way, I have determined to listen to my skin’s needs and nourish it with good-for-me products. Apparently my mother was listening too, thus I found a jar of Hugo Naturals Effervescent Bath Salts in my Christmas stocking over the holidays.
I’m sorry to say it’s been more than a month since I received this lovely gift, but I’ve finally found the time to take a bath and these bath salts are simply divine. The mango and guava scent makes the bathroom smell like a tropical island, and the combination of Dead Sea and Himalayan salts makes my skin feel smooth and soft. My only complaint is that although the salts advertise effervescence, the bubbles are nonexistent past the first five minutes. Normally this would be fine as salts generally do not create bubbles in my experience, but since this one specifically advertises that it does, I felt a twinge of disappointment.
The aftereffects of the bath are that my skin is soft and lightly scented. I feel the usual need for lotion, meaning these salts are not necessarily hydrating but neither were they drying. Verdict? I prefer a bath with bubbles, but if you’re a bath salts kind of gal, give Hugo Naturals a whirl.
