You might think that Coachella is just a music festival in the desert of Southern California, which is technically true. However it also happens to be a style bonanza and a great place to spot trends and get ideas for summer. Since I couldn’t physically go to Coachella, I had to settle to stream the concerts on my laptop and soak up the fashion via the Internet (at least this way I didn’t get a sunburn or heat stroke). Some trends that kept popping up at Coachella were cut off shorts, crop tops, prints galore, mini purses, booties, summertime black, and round sunglasses.
My favorite looks were all on trend, but also managed to elevate the festival-boho look to something that could be incorporated into your own summer look, even if your summer schedule doesn’t include a music festival. The neon dress is a standout and could look equally chic at a summer wedding, barbeque or afternoon picnic with friends. The blue maxi dress is casual and breezy, but the print makes it a standout piece. Lose the flower crown and it is easily an everyday summer favorite.
I love Diane Kruger’s patterned shorts (and red lip—so cool). They look festival appropriate, but you could easily wear these with so many tops and practically anywhere this summer. The print on print, blue and mustard combo is a personal fave, as I am partial to prints of any kind. When worn together, I’m in love. Also, notice all these ladies’ little purses?
Now, festival or no festival, I’m ready to reboot my summer wardrobe. Where can I find a mini purse?
