On top of the fact that it offers loads of vintage-inspired clothes at very decent prices, I return to the online fashion portal ShopRuche.com because it has a forward-thinking “Eco Friendly” page that features environmentally sensible items. The selection is disappointingly small, but it’s still a good way to find out about new eco-friendly designers and brands. A recent perusal introduced me to Mata Traders, a “fair trade fashion” company based in Chicago. The garments, characterized by bright patterns and feminine cuts, are ethically made by women’s cooperatives in India and Nepal (sort of like to Santa Cruz’s Synergy, which is also featured on ShopRuche.com’s Eco-Friendly page). I’m particularly smitten with the Patterns and Pockets skirt in the two designs pictured here. Learn more about the company and its adorable creations at matatraders.com.
