Once a year, the sports obsessed have the Superbowl, while movie and music buffs have the Oscars and Grammys. I have the Met Gala to fawn over. This Gala is the event of all events for anyone who is fashion obsessed and loves to take a risk. The annual event, which formally kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s yearly Costume Institute, is known to bring in the crème de la crème of individuals in fashion, ranging from models, to starlets, to designers. Every year, the Gala holds a different theme. For 2013, the theme of “Punk: Chaos to Couture” was chosen. When I first found out about the theme, I was imagining everyone to be leather clad with dark raccoon eyes and spikes everywhere. While several attendees took the easy (almost Halloween-like route), others really made a point to make it their own. I was glad to see women of different ages embracing the theme, and adding their own personal twist to their outfits. Here are a few of my favorite Met Gala moments showing you that you can be punk at any age.
