Resort Dressing Made Simple

Last Resort

It's resort season and while there have been times in my life that I was a little frustrated and jealous of all the swimsuits and warm weather attire in the stores while I still needed sweaters and gloves, these days I'm happy to have some new items to choose from. Whether you'll be traveling or just need a break from winter staples, some of the resort items can work now as well as come spring. Here's what my bag might look like for a short trip to a warm island locale. If you can rein your color scheme in, (I opted for blue, red and cream), everything should mix and match easily and make for some effortlessly chic dressing.

I'm a sucker for stripes so this long sleeved top that's colorblocked and striped is a must. Comfy boyfriend jeans, check. Delicate lace on a simple top adds interest while remaining a staple. Colorful shorts in a slouchy silhouette will be a favorite now and in spring, and the same can be said for this dressMetallic sandals are a constant favorite of mine as they go with everything and save a lot of packing space. They never go out of style and neither does a happy scarf and straw bag which complete any look. Once home and back to colder climates, the lace top could easily layer over a slim turtleneck, the dress could team up with warm tights and a bulky sweater, and the striped top would be cute peeking out from underneath some plaid.
