Stripe Style

Stripe Style is a monthly column written by Dana Rader, co-owner of Stripe and Stripe MEN, beloved lifestyle boutiques in Santa Cruz, Calif. This story features current favorite items from Stripe.

The gorgeous bronze jewelry (above) is made locally in Santa Cruz by Scott Robinson French. We have featured Scott’s woodworking and bronze sculptures during our First Friday art nights at stripe MEN. We fell in love with UC Santa Cruz alum's organic metal forms and shapes. Looking at his work, it seemed natural for him to make wearable art. We brainstormed with him, and he has been making rings and cuffs ever since. We love their natural but edgy feel. Rings sell from $112-$140 and cuffs from $112-$160.

For more than 150 years, Pendleton has been a classic for American style. With its incredible craftsmanship, timeless styles, and beautiful original fabrics, Pendleton is a staple. This jacket ($442) is classic, yet modern and sleek. Its lines, print and structure lend to it quickly becoming a signature piece in your wardrobe.

There is nothing like a good pair of jeans. STRÖM denim is made in Southern California and the company's approach to denim is simple: understated and practical. From classic cuts and washes to more fashion-forward pieces, they all help enhance your own unique style. With these “ex-boyfriend” jeans ($200) in black, they’re a great reinvention of the black pant. Worn dressy with a pair of heels, or casual with a white tank top, they look classic, sharp, and stylish.

Manready Mercantile is based out of Houston, Texas and focuses on all-natural products ($22-$34) made in small batches by Travis Weaver. It all started with Tyler taking a whiskey glass from his pantry, added some soy wax and essential oil, and began making candles on his stove. The Bergamot Teak fragrance is light but complex with notes of citrus, teakwood, and tobacco. All his products are unisex, but manly enough that you can buy them as gifts for the men in your life and use them, too. The lotion is fast-absorbing, doesn’t leave a greasy residue, and has that classic smell of the deep mossy woods.
