The Makeup Chair: What's In My Bag

Photos by Tommy Parker.

As a professional makeup artist (, I’m always interested in what others have stashed in their bag. I have boxes of makeup at home, but what do I have on my vanity for everyday? In a series of upcoming interviews on The Penny Rose, I’ll be sharing just that. And I’ll start with my own makeup bag.

In my bag:

Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Vision

This is my secret weapon. I can layer this on anything to give me an extra pop of sparkle without feeling too over the top.

Utowa Eyelash Curler

The quickest way to brighten up your peepers is to curl your lashes. This specific one was purchased from Violet Grey, a favorite place to shop for makeup.

Guerlain Écrin 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette No. 10

Perfect for an everyday look. It has iridescent, matte, and satin shadows to fit my mood. I even use the middle shade to fill in my brows.

Jane Iredale Dream Tint

I like my skin to look like my skin. This formula offers light coverage and helps even things out.

Jane Iredale Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder

I prefer to set my makeup with this for heavier coverage and a flawless finish. I’m crazy about using SPF and this has 20, which means my skin has protection throughout the day.

Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve

I put this everywhere. On chapped lips, dry skin, or for a wet look on my eyes.

Honorable mentions: L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Mascara, Melt Cosmetics Love Sick Eye Shadow Stack, NYX Matte Lip Cream, Urban Decay 24 Hour Liner, Jane Iredale Sunbeam Blush & Bronzer.

Stay tuned for next month's edition with the owner of Concrete Rose Salon, Noelle Weatherwax.
