Beauty Blast: Aesop

As a mother of two children under the age of 5, I have let some things in my beauty routine slide. Last year when my daily facial cleanser and moisturizer ran out, I was overwhelmed with choices and so I opted out. That's right, I was not using the most rudimentary of facial care products.

So when I was presented with the opportunity to try a few items for The Penny Rose from the Australian brand Aesop, I said yes without hesitation. My experiment was with the Fabulous Face CleanserB and Tea Balancing Toner and Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream. At first, I was dubious. I have sensitive skin and anything that lathers or foams usually leaves my skin tight and itchy. Also, I've never been a fan of toners. I've looked on them as an unimportant, time wasting, middle step on my way out the bathroom door.

But since I was testing these products for The Penny Rose, I vowed to use everything on a daily basis and play by the rules. I was not disappointed. My first impression was the scent. All three products have a fresh, botanical smell that I enjoy. The cleanser is low foaming and leaves my skin clean but not tight or itchy. I have been told that a toner's purpose is to restore the pH levels of the skin, so dutifully I pat it on like aftershave and wait for it to dry before I smooth on the moisturizing cream which is highly emollient yet not greasy. It soaks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft, moisturized and well taken care of. I noticed a few days after I started using the Aesop products that my skin was "glowy," and the tone was more even and looked better in general.

Bottom line: After three months my skin looks healthier and feels happier.
