Behind-the-Scenes Beauty is a monthly column written by stylists from Salon on the Square, a leading Bay Area hair salon. Today's beauty report is penned by Michaela Veglia.
I'm a stylist that loves technology and innovation, especially when it comes to creating healthier, beautiful hair. Olaplex is the latest product to cause a beauty buzz.
This innovative product dramatically reduces the damaging effects of lightening services and it can rebuild the bonds that give hair its strength. Whether you opt for an add-on to your color or lightening service, or for the stand-alone treatment, you can expect some remarkable results.
Olaplex consists of a patented trio of silicone, sulfate, phthalate, DEA, aldehyde, and cruelty-free preparations. The technology is ground breaking in that it offers cumulative and lasting reconstruction of hair, and it comes in three versions.
No. 1: Bond Multiplier is a glowing, sunshine yellow concentrate that your stylist mixes into the color or lightening formula to buffer the damaging effects of chemical services.
No. 2: Bond Perfector is a special rebuilding treatment applied immediately after rinsing. It’s left on for five minutes to do its tress-strengthening magic.
No.3: Hair Perfector is a yummy take-home product to help you reinforce all the benefits.
I started out using Olaplex by testing it out on my own long, frizzy, chemically compromised hair. The result was fewer broken hairs, my color didn’t fade as fast, and my locks felt stronger.
When I tried it out on my clients, I had similar results: highlights no longer felt stretchy, lowlights weren’t fading between appointments, and breakage was remedied.
Salon on the Square offers the Olaplex treatment to clients and can be added on to color services for $15. The stand alone, extensive treatment is $75. The at-home version is $30.
