Stripe Style

Stripe Style is a monthly column written by Dana Rader, co-owner of Stripe and Stripe MEN, beloved lifestyle boutiques in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Mara Snipes is a painter and textile artist based in Marin County. Mara's line of beautiful, hand-dyed silk dresses, scarves, and tops are made using traditional dye techniques. We love her raw silk tops, especially this one ($155) with a dip-dyed hem. Every piece she makes is a one-of-a-kind piece of art. We love how effortless and easy these tops are, yet they are able to pull together a whole outfit.

This top by Hackwith ($154) is actually designed just for Stripe. Hackwith Design House is located in Minneapolis and everything they create is in limited runs. I love collaborating with Lisa Hackwith and choosing shapes, fabrics, and silhouettes that work well in our shop and with our customers. This simple tunic looks great dressed up with black skinnies or worn casual over baggy linen trousers. We love the quality and versatility of Hackwith’s clothing and how their pieces work year round.

This deco-inspired necklace ($122) is from jewelry brand Is Was + Will Be. Designed by a husband-and-wife team out of North Carolina, they are always coming up with smart, simple, modern designs. This necklace is such a nice statement piece without being too over-powering.

This leather bag from Me & Arrow ($300) is the perfect carryall for any lifestyle. It’s handmade in Los Angeles using the highest quality U.S.A. oiled leather. This bag will last a lifetime and only get better with age. It’s large enough for a laptop and looks great dressed up for work, or can be loaded up with a water bottle and gym gear for a yoga class, or filled with a picnic and towel for a trip to the beach.
