Stripe Style

Stripe Style is a monthly column written by Dana Rader, co-owner of Stripe and Stripe MEN, beloved lifestyle boutiques in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Ali Golden is designed and made in Oakland, Calif. With a combination of a classic silhouette and a modern geometric print, this silk dress ($268) is perfect for sunny afternoon picnics or lovely enough for attending a wedding. Paired with a beige wool coat this winter, it’s great for evening festivities.

This bag from Vssel Leather Goods ($168) is the perfect companion to the grocery store, farmer's market, or out on the town. It’s handmade locally in Bonny Doon by Agnes Ysselstein. Agnes has been crafting beautiful totes and bags for her friends and family for years, and this is her first bag available for sale. Designed after a paper grocery bag but in nice, thick leather, it will last a lifetime and it gets better with more use. Cart your groceries in style or pack it for an overnight getaway.

Knuckle Kiss Jewelry is handmade in Seattle by Angela Delarmente. Although it’s a new line to Stripe, Angela has been making her gorgeous jewelry since 1998. Her earrings and necklaces are classic but her use of turquoise and moon stones make her jewelry into bold statement pieces. We love that her beautiful, minimalistic jewelry is designed with recycled sterling sliver, U.S. milled brass and nickel, and U.S. made chains and components. These little studs ($84) would make great everyday earrings.

There’s no better way to put your hair up than with one of these beautiful brass hair pins ($32-$45) by CA Makes. Handmade in Santa Barbara, they hold your bun up tight and give your hair a great tousled look when you take it out. Not only is it a quick way to look polished, the bun pins also won’t pull or damage your hair.
