How many times have you gone to the beach, only to find that you bring it home with you? Sand ends up in your car, on your shoes, and most unfortunately all over the beach towel you used. It's a serious bummer as you drag your towel inside and sand sprays everywhere. Soon, you start to curse your beloved few hours at the beach and swear to never go again.
Now, you don't have anything to fret. I've just discovered a solution to your sand woes, as well as a genius gym towel (it dries quickly and is anti-bacterial).
"The Active Towel" sold by Bluestone Imports (a Santa Cruz company that also sells their Turkish towels in Stripe) are one of my most exciting recent finds. Fashionable, compact, cozy, comfortable, and my favorite—practical—these towels can be used for a picnic at the park, a reading session at the beach, as a gym towel, a bath towel, or anywhere for any purpose, really.
According to Bluestone Imports website, "Turkish bath towels are flat-woven, with hand-tied fringe, and made of Turkish cotton or cotton/bamboo blend ... and have been an important part of the traditional Turkish bath, hammam, for 600 years."
The owner of the company, Julie Roller, launched her company in 2010 and introduced these remarkable towels to the mix in 2014. They've been a hit ever since.
For the last few weeks, I've been giving the Blue Aegean Active Towel ($36) a test drive and I am loving it. I've taken it to the beach down the street from my house and the sand didn't come home with me. I used it at the gym after taking a shower following a spin class, and it wasn't a big, wet mess shoved in my gym bag. And, I took it with me on a day trip to San Francisco where I had some time to kill, so I used it as a picnic blanket and lounged for a while. Perfection.
If you're looking for a spring/summer addition to your gym gear or beach travels, The Active Towel is it.
