Organic and fair trade don't usually go hand-in-hand when we speak of fashion. But on a recent window shopping excursion I happened upon the brand, Indigenous, and came home to Google them. Based out of Sebastopol, Calif., the line was created 10 years ago with the hopes of combining wearable clothing with an ethical and environmental source.
The line features organic cottons and wools, no- or low-impact dyes, and a partnership with artisans in Peru to knit and sew the pieces while providing a fair and living wage. Good for people, good for the planet.
From a fashion standpoint, I'd go to them for work and play, casual basics. My favorites from the line are leggings, a drawstring tunic and simple tees. I'm looking forward to a few purchases and will report back on the fabric quality.
My faves from their website are:
Color Blocked Tee
Essential V Tee
Sheer Drape Tank
Luxe zip leggings
Luxe drawstring tunic
