We all know we're not supposed to pick our zits, right? It can cause scarring and make things worse. But the reality is that people still pop their whiteheads (gross). So, if you're going to do it no matter what, take some precautions. That's what I did recently (shh, don't tell my esthetician or my dermatologist).
As a long-time acne sufferer, I have it under control for the most part, but lately, I've had a bit of that horrible cystic acne show up again on my chin. (It's awful.) Someone recommended that I apply Prid's Drawing Salve (an all natural ointment of sorts) to my cysts to bring them to a whitehead. This sounds gross, but for cystic acne sufferers, it's actually a relief, as cysts hardly ever turn to whiteheads and instead stay as cysts on your face for weeks. It sucks.
Well, two days ago, I could feel a cyst coming on. I covered it with Prid's the last two nights, and by this morning, it had transformed from a deep cyst to an above the surface whitehead that I gently extracted.
The moral of the story? Don't pick your zits. But if you are going to do it against the advice of everyone, then try Prid's.
