Eco-Beauty Facial: Indian Healing Clay

“The World’s Most Powerful Facial” is a big claim to live up to. But Aztec Indian Healing Clay comes darn close. This greenish clay (called bentonite, it comes from California’s Death Valley) is mixed with equal parts apple cider vinegar or water for truly impressive results. The company claims that this mixture has been used for skin improvement and wellness since the 1500s in France, and history has it that the use of clay for facials goes back much, much further. Famous for alleviating acne woes, the clay mask is also known for ousting blackheads, shrinking pores and tightening skin. After mixing the liquid and clay until it reaches a pasty consistency, apply liberally to all of your face and let sit until completely dry. It’s not often that I can gauge immediate results from a skin treatment, but I was pleased to find that my pores were minimized and my skin felt tighter not just immediately after the mask, but for several days afterward. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes from incorporating this mask into my beauty routine once a week. Learn more at
