Blithe and Bonny Bubble Bath

Nothing makes us happier here at The Penny Rose than supporting artisans in our own community. Blithe and Bonny is among the creative local talent in our hometown of Santa Cruz, Calif., and even without the company being a Bay Area favorite, we'd still love their products—especially the bubble bath. As Christmas gifts, I was fortunate enough to receive two bottles from their collection of goat's milk bubble bath: the Tuberose Orange Blossom and Rose varieties. Selling for $23 a bottle, there's nothing else like this bubble bath out there. The scents are divine and the skin soothing properties are luxurious. The bottle lasts quite a while (but not if you're like me and you use it every day). For the ultimate New Year's indulgence and wind down, grab a bottle of this bubble bath and create a relaxing experience that is much deserved.

I'm Melting

When winter winds whip, and the cold turns skin as brittle as a fallen leaf, there’s nothing like stepping into a hot bath. And as I have recently discovered, it’s all the better if the steamy water is infused with the soothing creaminess of a LUSH Bath Melt.

I practically live in my bathtub, thus I’ve tried everything from fizzing bombs to bubbly elixirs. But oftentimes, after toweling off, my skin feels more dried out than before the well-intentioned soak. Not so with LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics’ bath melts. Yummy scents like lemon, mango and marshmallow infuse the water with a subtle scent and the natural butters and essential oils make rough skin satiny once again.

May I suggest the golden Karma Bath Melt, which comes in the exotic shape of a pyramid, and the cheekily titled “Something Wicked This Way Comes,” a pretty purple bar with hints of ginger and jasmine.

Not that I ever need a reason to relax in the bathtub, but with winter just around the corner, I now have the perfect excuse.

Bathtub Bliss

Not long ago, I moved to a new place and it has a bathtub. For the first time in more than 11 years, I now have unlimited access to taking baths, and this is a treat. Finding the perfect bubble bath, however, took some searching. You can pick up any generic, waxy, artificial smelling bottle of suds at a local drugstore, but to settle into the finest bubbles and an aroma that will fill your home for hours, you have to do some research. After trying out several varieties, I discovered Tokyo Milk Bubble Bath, No. 12. With the scent of “Citrus Zest, Rosewood, Mimosa, and Mandarin,” this is a bubble bath worth the $25 price tag. It's sold both online and in Santa Cruz at Saffron and Genevieve. There’s nothing better, really, than settling into a bath, calming your mind, and letting your worries wash away.
