Two New Ways To Surf + Free Giveaway

After a short weekend of working from home and obsessively lurking my best friend's Instagram account for pictures from week two of Coachella, I was having major concert/hair/outfit envy from her backstage, poolside, and overall fabulous photos. Cut to today. I arrived at work and found two packages: Alexander Wang shoes (there will be a post about my crazy shoe hoarding/obsession soon), and new hair products from Bumble and Bumble.

The hair titans have added a Foam Wash Shampoo and Creme Rinse Conditioner to their "Surf" line, with the intent of achieving "buoyant body and soft, seabreezy texture" to spring/summer hair.

As the owner of a salon, my Bumble rep, Christina, had been mentioning to me that there would be new additions being made to the ever popular line, so I was more than ready to try out these new goodies.

A unique blend of body enhancing minerals and softening sea botanicals are packed into this fresh scented duo. The Foam Wash left my hair feeling clean, yet not overly squeaky clean. The light conditioner was easy to distribute (apply from roots to ends) and left my hair feeling surprisingly softer than expected and didn't leave that silicone residue feel. I decided to opt out of styling it, just to feel the effect of the two new products. Four hours later (my hair is extremely porous and takes forever to dry), and I feel like I just returned home from a beach getaway. My hair feels soft to the touch, yet has remarkable volume and texture.

These products hit shelves nationwide in May. The first three readers to leave comments will receive samples of the new Surf Foam Wash Shampoo and Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner, courtesy of Faust Salon and Spa Scotts Valley

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

The search is finally over. I've been struggling with flaky skin for years ever since I started using a prescription retinoid to get rid of my acne and prevent wrinkles. (The acne and fine lines have stayed at bay, but in exchange, I have flaky skin—all the time.) It's not fun. I've tried a bunch of exfoliators over the years always in the hopes of finding the perfect product that would gently remove my flakes but not be so aggressive that I was left with red skin and more flakes later on. Until now, I haven't been able to find a solution. That is, until I was bemoaning my woes to my friend, makeup artist Anna Wu. The next day she brought me this to try out, Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. Selling for $52, this product has become my miracle go-to. I use it every morning (which is just fine, as in the name of the brand it says, "Daily"). Shake out a small bit of the powdered product, mix with water until it turns into a milky paste and lightly rub on your face. Rinse off and immediately your skin is smoother. And if you're anything like me, your flakes will disappear.
