Seeing Red

So it's been decreed by the fashion gods that red is trending for Fall '12, which leaves a lot of wiggle room since there are so many shades. Burgundy, wine and claret are pretty traditional fall colors but brighter reds most people save for the holidays. It can be a little daunting to add red to your wardrobe as it can be such a bold statement. But it doesn't have to be overwhelming. In large or small doses, it can actually act as an almost neutral. It pairs well with so many colors. The obvious neutrals: black, charcoal, camel, ivory, denim. The unexpected pops that I love to pair it with: fuchsia or hot pink, yellow, orange, acid green and bright blue. Here are a few ideas about how to go about adding a shot of red into your Fall looks without going overboard. Good luck and have fun experimenting!

1) The boldest red statement: pants and matching pumps. It'll make your legs look a mile long if your heels match your high waisted trousers.

2) A fun mix of claret and hot pink makes for an interesting counterpoint to black and white polka dots.

4) Personally I love mixing neutrals but the pop of red as an accent is more exciting than sticking with a completely soft palette.
