The Curator: Five Favorites

In this month's The Curator column, Vanessa Ambrose, owner of Cameron Marks boutique, chooses five of her favorite things.

1. Chloe Resort 2015 Collection:

One of my favorite French clothing houses, Chloe, just released yet again an amazing collection for Resort 2015. Designer Claire Waight Keller had the works of architect Le Corbusier's modernist ideas on her mind this season it seems, incorporating clean and graphic silhouettes with complete ease, and constructing leaner looks imbued with softness. Love!

2. MUD Australia ceramics:

I have always had a soft spot for anything formed by hand out of clay. Always. Based in Sydney, MUD Australia has been a fave for quite a few years. Each piece is crafted from Limoge porcelain completely by hand, which allows for slight irregularities making each piece truly unique. The MUD color palette is like no other, just plain gorgeous with the color actually tinted in the clay, opposed to placing the color on the surface. Perfect for everyday use and we are eagerly awaiting our next delivery to Cameron Marks

3. The Midi Pencil Skirt Trend.

This is a silhouette that I hope is here to stay. You might be wondering what makes a skirt a midi skirt. It's the length; that it sits below the knee to the mid calf and usually has a true waist line. Extremely complimentary for all figure types. It's chic, and polite yet cool when worn with individual flair. I love the look with a form fitted crop top.

4. Rodin Lip Balm:

My bestie recently introduced me to my new favorite lip balm by Rodin. It's all natural, sheer and moisturizing. A lovely blend of jasmine, orange flower oil, shea butter, beeswax, and castor seed oil. Confession: The gorgeous square lucite packaging sealed the deal.

5. Ana Kras Bon Bon Lamps:

My current lust is the handmade Bon Bon lamps by Serbian designer Ana Kras. Based in New York, Kras hand makes each lamp with left over cotton and wool yarn. Just like a modern lantern, perphaps. Adore.

The Curator: Five Favorite Things

In this month's The Curator column, Vanessa Ambrose, owner of Cameron Marks boutique, chooses five of her favorite things.
1. I'm currently obsessed with the "Running Sneaker Chic" trend (above). Such a Godsend! I love the mix of wearing straight up feminine silhouettes or even a great blazer paired with running shoes. The brighter the sneak better, I think. It's nice to see a trend that can not only bring an outfit together in a quirky, cool way, but also where you don’t feel the need to pack an extra pair of shoes to actually walk in.
2. On a recent buying trip to L.A., on the "to do" list was breakfast at Sqirl café in Silver Lake, an artisanal jam factory-cum-café. Insanely soul satisifying food. A must-try: Kukuho Rose Brown Rice Bowl with sorrel pesto, preserved Meyer Lemon, watermelon radish, and dill, then topped with a poached egg. Also get the almond milk latte. Sqirl is at 720 Virgil Ave., Los Angeles, (213) 394-6526.

3. Downtown L.A. is undergoing a major renaissance including the recent opening of the Ace Hotel. It’s the perfect mix of opulence, functionality and wit. The gorgeous location is at the United Artists building which was built in 1927, home to Old Hollywood and it even had a private screening room for UA founder Mary Pickford. I loved the pencil drawings that adorn the lobby walls by the Haas Brothers. Go check it out while enjoying a Stumptown cup of coffee. Ace Hotel is at 929 Broadway, Los Angeles, (213) 623-3233.

4. I first laid eyes on the pieces of Brooklyn-based jewelry and fiber designer Erin Considine a few years back and have always adored Erin's fresh and completely original approach to design. Her outrageously gorgeous pieces are 100 percent earth conscious, organic, modern, and "recomfortable" (refined and comfortable) as she likes to say.  Coming soon to Cameron Marks.

5. My last obsession for the month are the handmade ceramics by Brooklyn designer Re Jin Lee of Bailey Doesn’t Bark, who is all about designing beautiful things with purpose; a philosophy I have always thought made sense. I'm loving the porcelain jewelry holders which are just the perfect thing to hold and display that growing collection of single stud earrings. Coming soon to Cameron Marks.
